So I finally found the completed snake I mentioned in the last post - naturally this happened when I was searching for something else entirely :) He was a bit of challenge to make due to figuring out how to make the coils, but now that I think I've got that down I am having fun making more like him.

I'll try to keep him from slinking off this time.
